New Who Talk

Who Talk: The Edge of Destruction & Earthshock

Just in time for Christmas, Who Talk returns with two new releases to end the year with a bang!

“It was one of our first objectives to make sure that all three of Doctor Who’s first stories had complete commentaries, as this was something missing from their original DVD release,” explains producer Paul W T Ballard. “So it’s with great pleasure that we are able to present two complete commentaries for The Edge of Destruction… or Inside The Spaceship if you would rather.”

Moderated by both Toby Hadoke and Nicholas Pegg, The Edge of Destruction features William Russell (Ian Chesterton), Carole Ann Ford (Susan Foreman), Richard Martin (Director), Clive Doig (Vision Mixer), Brian Hodgson (Special Sound), Robert Shearman (New Series Writer) and Jessica
Carney (William Hartnell’s granddaughter).

“This is the first release where we’ve paired up William Hartnell’s onscreen granddaughter with his real life granddaughter, which was quite fun. We’ve also covered the opening episode of the following serial, Marco Polo, which is sadly missing from the archives. Carole Ann gives an enthusiastic and poignant commentary on the episode.”

The second release this month is for glossy eighties action story Earthshock.

“The original commentary for Earthshock featured the series regulars for all four episodes, which meant that there was a huge amount of scope for people to get involved in a new track, and we were thrilled so many agreed to join us for this 35th anniversary release,” says Paul. “There was so much scope in fact that we’ve expanded the release into a special edition option, meaning that there are seven new episode commentaries for the serial.”

Moderated by Toby Hadoke, Earthshock features James Warwick (Scott), Clare Clifford (Kyle), Steve Morley (Walters), Alec Sabin (Ringway), Joan Stribling (Make-Up) and Eric Saward (Writer & Script Editor).

We are also offering listeners a special edition bundle featuring both The Edge of Destruction and Earthshock. Each set will come with the cover signed by a contributor from each release, and Earthshock contains a bonus disc featuring exclusive additional commentaries with Mark Hardy (Cyber Lieutenant) and Steve Ismay (Cyberman).

These CDs are very limited, and exclusively available via whotalk.co.uk

Both sets are now available, you can purchase them direct from Who Talk at a discounted price of £10.99 each (RRP £12.99) or via download priced £9.99. The special edition bundle will be available exclusively via this website priced £39.99.
