Happy 80th birthday, Colin Baker! The actor best known for playing the Sixth Doctor was born 8th June, 1943. With his distinctive voice, commanding presence and versatile acting abilities, he has captivated audiences and earned critical acclaim for his work.

Born in Waterloo, London, during an air raid, Colin moved with his family to Rochdale when he was three years old. From an early age, he demonstrated a passion for the performing arts, honing his talents at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), where he received formal training and laid the foundation for his future success.

Colin Baker first gained recognition in the 1970s, appearing in various British television dramas, including War and Peace (alongside Anthony Hopkins) and Fall of Eagles. However, it was his casting as Paul Merroney in the long-running series The Brothers that thrust him into the limelight. Baker’s portrayal of the charismatic and manipulative businessman garnered him widespread praise and helped establish him as a formidable actor.

In 1984, Colin’s career reached a significant milestone when he took on the iconic role of the Sixth Doctor in Doctor Who.
