Celebrating Philip Hinchcliffe’s Birthday with Three Iconic Doctor Who Stories
To celebrate Philip Hinchcliffe’s birthday, Fantom Publishing is looking back on his insightful contributions to the ‘Who Talks’ series.
Fantom Publishing was privileged to have Philip Hinchcliffe join the ‘Who Talks’ panel to discuss three of Doctor Who’s most iconic stories:
Who Talk: Pyramids of Mars
In 1975, Doctor Who was at the height of its gothic horror period, under the guidance of producer Philip Hinchcliffe and script editor Robert Holmes. This pairing would be the architects for some of the series’ most enduring images, and Pyramids of Mars is packed with them; not least the marauding murderous robot Mummies.
Moderated by actor, comedian, and cult television enthusiast Toby Hadoke, this release features Nick Burnell (Mummy), George Gallaccio (Production Unit Manager), James Burge (Floor Assistant), Philip Hinchcliffe (Producer), Joseph Lidster (Audio Writer), and John Dorney (Audio Writer).
WHO TALK: PYRAMIDS OF MARS can be found here.
Who Talk: Revenge of the Cybermen
Cast and crew reunite to share their memories of the production in a brand new commentary for all four episodes. Additionally, a bonus track for episode one features professional writers.
After an absence of seven years, the Cybermen returned to the nation’s screens to battle brand new Doctor Tom Baker in his debut season.
Cast and crew now reassemble to share their memories of the production. With newly designed costumes for the eponymous monsters and some atmospheric location filming in Wookey Hole, the serial became a firm fan favourite and was the first to be released on home video.
Moderated by actor, comedian, and cult television enthusiast Toby Hadoke, this release features Christopher Robbie (Cyber Leader), David Collings (Vorus), David Sulkin OBE (Vogan), Roger Murray-Leach (Designer), Philip Hinchcliffe (Producer), and Michael E. Briant (Director).

Who Talk: The Talons of Weng-Chiang
Few Doctor Who stories are as revered or as adored as Robert Holmes’s six-part 1977 serial The Talons of Weng-Chiang. A web exclusive special edition is also available featuring a 30-minute archive stage interview panel with Christopher Benjamin & Trevor Baxter.
With its intoxicating blend of Victoriana, science fiction, Chinese tongs, music halls, and even a giant rat, the serial brought to a close the great gothic era of Doctor Who under the helm of producer Philip Hinchcliffe.
Moderated by actor Nicholas Pegg, this release features Christopher Benjamin (Henry Gordon Jago), Trevor Baxter (Professor Litefoot), John Bloomfield (Costume Designer), Roger Murray Leach (Designer), and Philip Hinchcliffe (Producer). To celebrate the fortieth anniversary of this landmark serial, cast and crew have been reunited to provide new commentaries.
