The Three Musketeers
The Three Musketeers tells the story of the early adventures of the young Gascon gentlemen, D’Artagnan and his three friends from the regiment of the King’s Musketeers. Under the watchful eye of their patron M. de Treville, the four defend the honour of the regiment and the queen against the guards of Cardinal Richelieu. However their most dangerous encounter is with the Cardinal’s spy, Milady, one of literature’s most memorable female villains, and Dumas employs all his fast-paced narrative skills to bring this enthralling novel to a gripping and dramatic conclusion.
The tale is told by an adventurous boy, Jim Hawkins, who gets hold of a treasure map and sets off with an adult crew in search of the buried treasure. Amongst the crew however, is the treacherous Long John Silver who is determined to keep the treasure for himself.
